We’re about an hour from Fort William and forty minutes from Inverness but there are many places closer to home that you might like to visit. Foyers, is four miles East along Loch Ness and boasts the magnificent falls of Foyers as well as a couple of excellent cafes. Fort Augustus is eight miles West along the loch and is a slightly larger community with restaurants and shops. It’s here that the Caledonian Canal joins Loch Ness, and there are cruises on the loch as well as RIB trips to be enjoyed.
There are many walks to enjoy in the area, the North Loch Ness trail starts at Fort Augustus and the smaller South Loch Ness trail boarders our land. There is also a lovely walk from Whitebridge to Foyers which is about three miles long, starting from the Whitebridge Hotel just down the road from us.
Cyclists, motor cyclists and walkers will find the roads on the Southern side of Loch Ness much quieter than the main tourist routes on the Northern side, with many quiet lanes to explore.
Don’t forget the Aurora Borealis can often be seen from Scotland, our guest lounge and master suit has an excellent view of this beautiful natural phenomenon when it occurs, but you’ve got to be lucky! Have a look in our gallery to see a few snaps we’ve taken of the lights from the lodge.
